We didn't drive down to the campground. We stayed at the turnout next to the overlook, amazing. The road was fine even though it rained for a little bit, well maintained gravel road at least to the overlook. It was a bit windy but died down later in the night. Fairly level and plenty of room for our 35' fifth wheel. Will be back to explore the campground when we have more than one night. Looking forward to exploring this area seems there are a lot of boondocks opportunities between Albuquerque and Colorado

What A Gem!

We stayed at the first picnic area and had it to ourselves. What a magnificent view that rivals the SD Badlands. Road in is kinda rough, but doable if you take your time. We have an F250 towing a 30' TT. Excellent AT&T. Close enough to the highway to get to the overlook in 5 minutes, yet far enough away you don't hear road noise.

Peaceful

Quiet and dark skies. A free BLM site that is a first come basis. It is clean and neat. No running water, but has a basic toilet.

Worth The Rough Road!

Almost turned around as the road was really rough for 3 to 4 miles and then got a little bit better. Apparently lots of gas company trucks use it. Really glad we kept coming. Absolutely beautiful views. Dirt road and sites. Covered picnic tables and firerpits.we stayed at northernmost site and had no problem with 33' 5th wheel. Minimal leveling and didn't disconnect from truck. Most sites are small. Well worth the trip for a night. Can't wait til sunrise!
