Nebraska’s first state park and what a gem! Beautiful area and very nice sites. We happen to stay during a cold rainy storm so wasn’t able to take advantage of the pool or paddle boats. Will definitely be someplace we come back to!

Enjoy
We camp here at least once a year. Staff always friendly. One hidden gem, a walking Archery range with targets at all ranges, higher and lower than archer. You get plenty of exercise in the process. There are plenty of trails throughout the park to hike.

Motocamping
I was on two wheels and looking for a place to pitch my tent. Prices are typical for Neb State Parks so not terrible. Campground host was super friendly and helpful. He suggested riding the scenic road at sunset and I’m glad I took his suggestion. I was the only one in the tent section. My spot wasn’t perfectly level but I didn’t notice it in the tent. I did notice road noise in the evening/night but by morning all I could hear was the breeze in the pines. Stars were very visible but there is light from Chadron.

Surprising Gem
Wanted to stay at Ft. Robinson SP while in this area, but it was full….so Chadron SP was my fall back place to stay in the area. I am so glad that I did! It has a serene, park like setting with ponderosa pines and unexpected cliffs and rock formations within view from our campsite. Be sure to go to the overlook off the scenic loop at sunset!
My only issue is it gets to be just as expensive as a private CG when you add the $12/day park entrance fee and paying for showers ($1 for 4min) for a family of 4. We found it more economical to pay entrance to the pool ($4-adults & $3-kids) and shower there after swimming.

Chadron SP
We enjoyed this park! Nice roomy camping sites. We didn't travel with little ones, but we noticed lots of playgrounds in this park, it had a little creek running thru the picnic area, and nice bathrooms. And a neat scene drive around a bunch of large rocks and cliffs, something we did not expect to see in Nebraska!

Great Hidden Spot
We stayed here as a quick stop and were surprised. This park offers a lot to do.
The only issue was they charge for everything. Camping, the truck, the pool all had separate charges. Nothing was to high.
I recommend staying if you are passing through.
