Nice Campground
We spent 14 days here. Sites are quite large. All back ins. No hook ups but the vault toilets are pretty clean. There are fire rings and picnic tables at each site. Lots of shady spots and some open spots too. No cell or wifi. Right off the highway but almost no traffic at night so nice and quiet. You can cut/split any fallen trees or branches of which there are plenty. We did have thunderstorms almost every night we were there. And although we were told the water is potable it is discolored, so we drove the 10 miles north to antelope creek campground and filled with water for no charge. Also as a BLM campground if you have the senior pass it is only 6$. Only saw rangers a few days a week, and over the fourth of July weekend.

James Kipp Rec Area During Elk Season
Kipp Rec Area is located in the Upper Missouri River Breaks. It is a popular location during elk season as it is just a few miles from the Slippery Ann Elk Viewing Area. The rec area is at the bottom of a hill accessible by a washboard dirt road. The park features 34 sites with picnic tables and fire rings in an old grove of cottonwoods, many with dead limbs. There are vault toilets, a launch ramp, dump station and water. The water was not potable when we first arrived and had to drive 20 miles one way to fill our holding tank. The water tests finally passed state standards but was so brown and full of sediments we did not drink or cook with it. The park was safe and quiet, overseen by a part-time volunteer attendant.
