If you love nature you can find it here. Lots to do and explore in the area with short drives. Campground is very quiet and peaceful though the night and early morning…..will be back for longer stays someday….

Surprise: Electric Only
We stayed here three nights in late July. I thought I reserved a W/E site, but the entire park is electric only. We weren’t prepared, but made do.
The roads in the campground was fairly narrow and there are a lot of sites. Ours was a back in that was level and fully shaded. There were faucets placed around the campground for drinking water, but it had that strong sulfur smell so we used lots of water bottles. The bathroom/showers were fairly clean, but very old and could use an updating.
The park is beautiful and the headwaters of the Mississippi River is a must. Bemidji is 45 minutes north to see Paul Bunyan and Babe.
Probably wouldn’t stay again because of the no water hookup, but if you’re up to it then it’s a great place.

SOOOOO MUCH DUST
Our black truck is white. Why wouldn’t they oil the roads?
We won’t be back.
One dump station. Ridiculous.

Beautiful, But Pricy
Gorgeous park and campground, especially with fall colors, but very pricy. Campground fee and day pass fee. Give me a break. Toilet next to walk-in tent sites closed. Main restrooms were clean.

Great park
I’m a park critic that is very stingy in giving out 4 or 5 stars. This place is a solid 4 1/2. With the nice level gravel spots, clean and up to date restrooms, great views, trail for hiking and biking, fishing, and history, Itasca is a true gem amongst parks. The visitor centers are very well complemented. The staff is awesome and the host helpful. They have both electric and primitive sites throughout the grounds. The fees are nominal and there is just enough seclusion to see stars clearly. Be sure to bring “All” supplies as prices are higher for everyday items. This is a place worth the drive.

LOVE THIS PARK
Itasca is our favorite state park, so much to do! Bear Paw Campground offers big sites, shade, mowed grass, lake views, nice bathrooms, historic buildings, electrical sites, hike-in sites, wifi, &a link to the bike trail. Pine Ridge Campground offers large, flat sites, shade, electrical sites, wifi, several bathhouses, mowed grass but some private sites cut out of the forest and is walking distance to the lake at the bike & boat rental building. ( ice cream treats & camp store)! Lots of wildlife and you can bike the bike trail & Wilderness a Drive for 16 total miles of paved biking through hilly pine forests. The restaurant & bar at Douglas Lodge has great food, local spirits &pie. Awesome visitor centers with many ranger programs!
