Great Campground Except For...

We loved this campground! We had a fabulous site at the top of a hill overlooking most of the area. Clean and well groomed. Two concerns...some sites, like ours, had to share the electric post. No big deal unless your shore line can't reach the post. Second, the dump station...takes a while to get in line and while you wait those famous michigan mosquitos are having lunch on you. The fresh water fill up is also at the dump station so we had to wait coming in to the campground to fill up, too. Plan accordingly. Shower house was very clean with an abundance of hot water. Sites were somewhat private/surrounded by trees and brush so you don't see your immediate neighbor in many cases. We would definately camp there again.

Let me start out by saying we love Michigan state parks. We come to Pontiac Lake because it is close to home and makes you feel like you are away from everything and only 20 minutes from home. We love the large wooded sites and the park is always clean. We stay in the lower level because each site has their own electrical box. We have never had issue with the power but the state needs to upgrade electricity from what we have heard. The one dump station is an issue on holiday weekends. Would be great if they could upgrade. Always hopeful because it is a great park. Lots of wooded hiking trails. We always enjoy our stay.

Would Be Great If The State Spent Money

This place has some of the best large grassy sites around with paved pads to park. I would give them a 5 star review for the quality of the sites but there are two glaring issues. 1) The power grid can't keep up. Memorial day weekend several sites lost and gained power every 20 minutes. 2) They only have one dump station. This makes for long lines trying to leave at the end of the weekend.

Under utilized CG. Sites range from treed to meadow like. Well taken care of and clean. Located near shopping and attractions yet secluded. Located near airport traffic pattern so some noise.
