Great Close To Home Park

Those park is great and close to home. Riverfront is great if you want to watch freighters and camp with friends. Sites are close together and do not offer much privacy or shade but great views of the river. Wagon-wheel is perfect for those who want shade and privacy. Can get buggy in the summer so screen tent is a must.

Loved It

We stayed this weekend in the Wagon Wheel. We have a cabin up north and we felt like we were there… but we were only 45 minutes from home. Very clean! We liked that everything gets quiet by ten o’clock. If you book a spot up front near the river beware…there is hardly any shade. Wagon Wheel has it all :)

Camping In SE Michigan

We were fortunate enough to get a spot in the wagon wheel section of the park which was very nice and secluded by trees , we have a class A motorhome which fit nicely into the spot , I set up two screen tents (definitely needed) and we still had enough room for our corn hole set up. It was a short walk down a nice wooded path to the river , we brought our wagon with the chairs and sat on the riverfront watching the boaters , fishermen and the occasional freighters going by. We also brought our bicycles and went riding on the paved trail to Algonac and also to a nice little restaurant up the road. I recommend this state park , it was extremely clean , inexpensive and the people that work here are over the top in making the stay an enjoyable one. We are going back to stay on the riverfront soon

Noise!

Stayed for 6 nights and really enjoyed the first 3. Nice site, clean facilities, lots of benches placed near the river, lots of open space, BUT there is a shooting range in the park which is very busy all weekend and the constant sound of gunfire really wore us down.

Close To Home

This place is great for a quick getaway close to home! We love the sites by the water so my son can watch the freighters go by. The lots are very close together and offer no privacy.

No Shade!

This campground is not my style of camping. I stayed there with my family and there is no shade and sites are close together. If you like more privacy and shade, this is not the place. The site we were in was muddy and we had to move. I guess if you don't plan on spending time at your camper this may be the place for you.
