Snow In Late April?
Made reservations at the Brighton Recreation Area modern campground a few months ago figuring it should be warm enough in late April to camp, right? We got about two inches of snow (see pics I added) with night time temperatures going down to upper 20 degrees! Yikes!! Glad I had two full tanks of propane.
The Brighton Rec area is huge with the modern campground (145 sites in two loops) and two “primitive” campgrounds nearby for tents and boondockers. It is a state park so there is only electric hookups at each site in the modern campground. There are water fill and dump stations at the entrance.
Depending on your map route in, there is a paved road in from the west and a dirt road from the east. Separate entrances to primitive campgrounds and trailhead parking are from dirt roads.
There is a lake with beach, canoe/kayak rental, group camping, hiking trails, over 25 miles of great mountain bike trails, equestrian trails with horse rentals, and fishing.
