Great Park

We had a great spot on the water. Fishing was very lack luster. Trails are well kept . Three different playgrounds for the kiddos. Camp store has GREAT ice cream. Restaurant had very good food. Bait shop very well stocked for all you fishing needs. Looks like they do boat rentals. Saw plenty of deer, 1 turkey and 1 pheasant during our stay. Shower house doesnt open until May 1st so we could check them out.(seems a month later than it should be) Another beautiful state park that you can tell Illinois is putting zero dollars back into.

Great Stop Over

We were having RV issues and rolled in late. Site 1 helped us check in and we made it through the dark to our spot. What a beautiful surprise upon waking to this beautiful lake front spot with wildlife all around. Would've liked to have stayed longer to explore more!

Quiet Place To Camp

We've camped here every year for almost 10 years. It's always the same great time. Very quiet. Fishing is fun even though I've never caught even a sunfish.

Nice State Park, OK Campground

Stayed a week in a pop up. One full service bathhouse for 150 sites, other facilities are pit toilets with 1-2 buildings per loop. Bathhouse could use some maintence, especially the showers. Sites have electric only, but potable water is available at the dump station. Our site was pretty good... next to bathhouse, full shade, no one behind us, and a fair distance from the site next to us. Some sites are very close together with little separation, most have decent shade. Fire pits are huge, and we found that they were difficult/potentially dangerous to manage cooking over a small-medium fire in the middle of the pit unless the fire is built right on the edge of the pit which is weird too. Small camp store with wood, ice, necessites, and soft serve ice cream. On the day use side of the park there is a nice restaurant, boat launch and rentals. Great fishing and nice hiking. Decent campground since its only about 45 minutes from the far western suburbs of Chicago.

Beautiful Quiet Place

Nice place, nice spots near with a view of the lake. This place will be bug city come summer. There is a chumbys that has decent pizza right down the road. We fished for about 8hrs didn't catch anything. Which continues my 34 year streak of never catching a fish at shabonna lake. There was lots of boats near where we were fishing none of them cought anything either. Lots of nice hiking trails. Really a pretty park. My family enjoyed it a lot. I think it has 50 and 30 at every spot, 2 dump pits , water, big variety of wooded or grassy spots. The shower house was surprisingly very nice. I don't know if it's the water pressure or the shower head for the water hurts lol

Stay mid summer and get directions to go pick strawberries. (30 min drive) Thought the sites were just ok. We've been to better state parks in IL
