Quiet Little Park
Hot showers / clean . Pit toilets /clean . Lots of docks around the lake to fish off of ( all-though they do look to be on their last leg). Fishing seemed good. Some of the sites have wooden decks which is kinda nice. Small campground with an older clientele=Nice and quiet. Lake is trolling only so perfect for kayak, canoe paddle-board. Kayaks and paddle boats for rent. Firewood ice cream and food for sale(little steep on price)Hiking trails all pretty flat but well maintained . Observatory trail not on the map but the nicest one. Woodpecker trail is blacktop. . Seems like most of the park is very well kept with a few things here and there being neglected(playground falling apart and tent area didnt seem to provocative…. Thanks Illinois).Great park and recommend . With a little bit of tlc this place could be a five star. Been to a lot of state parks and this one is jam packed full of nice people!!!!!

Beautiful!
Just stopped for one night, but will make this a destination in the future. We were here in July, 2022, and we can't believe that we almost had it to ourselves.

Our FAVORITE Park!
We love this park! The hosts are nice and the staff work really hard to keep the park nice, even with a nearly nonexistent state budget. There are 34 electric camping sites, 6 non-electric "B" sites and many tent sites. We love the smaller size. However, this is a popular little campground that often fills up on the weekends.

Nice Park!
Nice Park, friendly staff and hosts. You may visit before you camp depending equipment you have and make reservations. Some sites flood easy but Dan in the park office was very knowledgeable about all that. Alcohol only allowed in certain sections. Shower houses are decent. Not located close to anything attraction wise but plenty to do at the park itself.
