Park Is Open And Lovely

Almost didn’t stop because of a commenter. The pinned spot is closed, but on the state park pin, there are lovely campgrounds with big trees, wooded an nice biking/walking trails. Lots to do. Don’t pass this one.

When Will It Reopen?

Campgrounds now closed for 3+ years. No sense of staff urgency. Very inconvenient for Kankakee and all of ChicagoLand, especially those living south. Are the new Governor and DNR head listening?

A terrible waste of a great place. The park closes at 8pm. If you visit multiple days expect to be accused of staying after hours. Not exactly encouraging to a return visit. But if you are in the area the park is clean and the trails along the river are paved. Nice for biking and hiking.
