My Go-to Place
My youth through high school was spent in this area. I go back to the area frequently to visit family and friends. I always try to stay at the Savannas. Big sites, reasonable prices, and the folks here have always been very nice. Sunrise and sunsets are beautiful. There are snakes and gators, so use a flash light at night. And in daytime be aware of your surroundings. The camping area has the grass cut short so you can see snakes and gators but you need to watch. I prefer this campground strongly to the others in the area: tourist traps IMO and small sites and high prices.

We stayed 4 nights in our 40’ motorhome in October. The campground was nicely kept and the staff was helpful. It was quiet and full of wildlife—gators, songbirds, herons, sand hill cranes. We would return again.

Wetlands And Nature
This is a rustic park where nature enthusiasts can get up close to wild kingdom. Restrooms were older but clean. The sewer is on the opposite side from water/power, so travelers need to have enough cord or pipe to deal with it. Note: you are living in a hard core swamp and the bugs that come with it. Our daughter who lives in Ocala taught me NOT to use a flashlight at night otherwise the mosquitoes will swarm you!! The park has enough lights that you can see at night without one.

Nice Gem
Nice quiet park, 2 bath room facilities, one bath house, a laundry room. Everything is clean and kept up. Full of snowbirds after Dec 1. Easy parking, most sites have water views, including Gators. Lots of sand hill cranes, frogs, this is a Florida wetland. Stayed here a month. Kayak and canoe rentals, tennis courts, a bike trail.

Nice little county park. Easy campsites with full hookups. Very little privacy and gators a little too close for my comfort with my dogs. Does have a really nice fenced dog park for small and large dogs (separated). Average bath house and laundry facilities. Didn't love the surrounding town too much. A lot of closed businesses and not a lot around.
