Not an easy ride over the mountains from Denver but oh so nice. It's true that beetles killed many trees so now the sites are all in full sun. But at this altitude it's cool year-around. Multiple facilities service the campground well and they're all clean and well maintained. Since ski resorts are nearby cell phone signals are quite good. Sites are small and not all are level. I'd like to visit here again and stay longer. Costs $44 but I got half off with my inter-agency senior pass.

There is one row of sites with water and electric. It was not clear on some of the websites that we looked at if we would have water. There are no trees up on the top row where the water and electric are. Pine bark Beatles have killed them. There are several small ones tho, so in about 10 years it should be gorgeous again. Its quite the decent and climb to and from the water. About a 120ft gain. Great exercise tho. No TV antenna reception. A nice quite park really and the water is so calm and beautiful in the mornings and evenings. Wind kicks up around noon to chop things up for a while.
