First time to Colorado Springs. I made the reservation weeks ahead. Staff were very accommodating. When we arrived the same was true. Love the Campground. We come to Camp not worry about if the roads are paved or not. Definitely would stay again. 4 stars

Nice Primitive Campground
Rustic campground as far as sites and site maintenance. Roads are decomposed granite and rain creates ruts and muddy flows. Ask for someone to lead you to your site, as signage for access roads is not posted. All said, it is scenic and we would stay again.

Cheyenne Mountain Park
Sites are nice full hook ups, bathrooms, shower rooms, laundry (pay hot water) but they are all in excellent condition. You will have to buy a day park pass every full day that you are there unless you have a Colorado state park pass that will work. Good well marked hiking trails and a playground. Perfect views of the Springs.

Bad Review
This camp site is very primitive and expensive for what it is. Nice wooded area if you like primitive surroundings. If you stay here make sure someone escorts you to your site or you could spend lots of time trying to find it yourself. Site map is not well done. We have a large RV and the site was very rough to drive through, very difficult to level because the sites are primitive woods areas and the electrical hookups can be shared between sites limiting access to a 50 amp hookup. Be careful. It really is not worth the money and effort to stay here.

Our First Fifth Wheel
Our maiden voyage was to this camp ground. We arrived into a confused entrance. We didn’t know what they wanted us to do to check in. I guess you are supposed to veer right under the low hanging trees. We went to the left and stopped. But a lady came running out immediately to help us! She was very nice. Everyone we saw was very nice. She helped us, and yes, you have to swing wide. At 39 feet, our new Fifth Wheel made it carefully. It’s an old historic campground. Peaceful, beautiful, with wildlife casually walking around. We saw a group of 50 Turkey wander through! 2 Deer moseyed through. We found several trails to walk our Dogs on. The bathrooms are clean, but old. The place seems run by some content descendants. They are making it work, but don’t want to try too hard. That’s the feel you get. The Laundromat is out????? You can’t make that make it work? At $2 a load or whatever? Too many low hanging branches. Can you trim a few trees? Spectacular land. Needs some effort.

Hilly and Green, But Expensive
This is a very hilly campground and it is difficult to find a flat spot. I was able to level the trailer all right, but there is no place to sit outside and even the camping table and fire ring are at an angle. There are some shrubs for a little privacy but we still couldn't open the windows on one side, because of the neighbor. The park's roads are just dirt and rough to drive on. I was able to connect to the WiFi only when using a booster, because our spot was to far from the office. For $70 per night I would expect a little more.

No Reserv
Not taking reservations due to low water level and closing 10/1. We didn't even want to hook up to water, just wanted power for the nite. Oh well.

Enjoyed Our Stay
We camped there for 3 months. Enjoyed our stay. Everyone was friendly and looked out for each other.

We paid for a “deluxe” site. True it was roomy, but no chance of leveling without raising the tires of our motor home off the ground, which we cannot do safely. So we can’t extend the slides which bummed us out. It’s not a very pretty campground, all gravel, scrubby, obvious erosion on the campsites and gravel roads in the campground. No signs of attempts to grade any of the gravel or maintain the appearance of this place.

Hey man while they were still closed for updating I am from the area and have been traveling my father used to park in previous years I was approached very early in the morning and told the park was not open when I asked about other rver they said those were there year-round they've been informed me that my RV was too old for me to stay there and proceeded to charge me $40 and tell me that I had to be out by 10 a.m. so they were polite about it but I would not recommend this place

The folks at this park were extremely nice, however when we called to ask if they had room for that night and told them how large we were they did not mention the extremely difficult turn into their park - nor did they mention the back fire gate they have which they can open for big rigs to get in easier. We got there when there was still someone in the office and she again did not mention the back gate. There is significant evidence on the tree at the regular entrance that MANY RVs have scraped the tree. My husband was able to get our 45 foot 5th wheel into the regular entrance but not without backing up and repositioning several times. We did not discover they had a back gate until the day we were leaving and someone else suggested we ask the office to open the back gate for us. When I asked they happily did so and we easily went out onto the roadway. Beautiful setting, rough campground roads, sites have water runoff ditches. "Strange Inheritance" bug museum on-site.

Ladies In the office were nice
We called right before they closed and were able to make a reservation for that same day. She was very friendly and had everything ready for our after hours arrival. I agree with the other comment that this Park is MUCH nicer than many other campgrounds in Colorado Springs. We drove by and through many of them and we thought they were storage lots because everyone was so close. The lots were fairly large and you could reserve a Deluxe spot that had and extra "yard" next to your space which was nice. However, we were placed in an area that had many people who lived there and they were not very friendly and the area wasn't very well kept. We moved after the first night and stayed at Mueller State Park

I grew up going camping (5th wheel) and was so excited when my husband and I purchased a 5th wheel of our own. This was our first camping experience together with our 16 month old and it was great. I called and reserved ahead-they were very friendly and accommodating. When we arrived our reserved spot was still occupied. They tried getting ahold of the occupants with no luck- they did not have an equal spot available but did have one of their deluxe spots available. They moved us into that one and we fell in love! We hope to reserve this exact spot in the future. I enjoyed taking my baby on morning stroller walks around the park-IT IS BEAUTIFUL! We did not bring our dogs but many had theirs and everyone was very respectful. We never heard dogs barking at all. We recommend this campground and can't wait to visit again!

Great Place
There's is a hill to climb and there is a wide turn which there is plenty of room for and there are uneven roads and spaces BUT it is well worth it!!! Lake, wide open spaces, mountains!!! And reasonable!!! I have a 36 foot class A and no problems!!

I am writing this review because of all the bad reviews recently this great park received. This park is the creme-de-le-creme of Colorado Springs. There are no parks that come close in comparison in or outside Colorado Springs,Co. I feel all the negative reviews I read about steep hills, dirt RV pad sites, and ruts in their roads are comments based on ignorance. When I visited this park today I was breathless and amazed. The only negative I can write about here is, take more pictures and post them to your web site. The more pictures the better, panoramic would do you more justice. I am a little sad at my fellow humane beings for being so cotton picken spoiled about how they think a campground should look. To all the fine folks at Golden Eagle my hats off to you for doing the best you could in light if all the flooding the past two years. God bless this family and may He give you many more prosperous years to come.
