Nice time
The restaurant by the lake is nice. The bike rental, ice cream parlor, coffee shop and gift shop was wonderful and convenient. Hotel had very pleasant and helpful staff. The campground has dirt pads that are unlevel. I love the rustic look of the campgrounds. But the campgrounds restrooms and showers are the worst I have ever seen...unusable to me...this is why the rate is low.

Old, Poorly Maintained
This is a very old NPS campground leased to the Camp Richardson complex. The spaces are small, tight, obstructed and far from level. There was tree debris stacked in many spaces along with brocken and unuseable tables, standing water and mud. You will need a power and water extension as the utilities are at the edge of the road, not the side of your RV. You will also need an assortment of leveling blocks to hopefully level your rig. It was difficult backing and fitting our 28 TT into the spot. There is one camp restroom that is at least 60 years old. The staff is polite and accommodating. The bears can be entertaining if your neighbor leaves out a BBQ for their inspection.

No dogs
This looks amazing but no dogs allowed so we can’t try it :/ I’m leaving a review because I almost made a reservation before I caught no dogs allowed.

Great Park
Our family had so much fun here. We were on a site with sewer hook ups and they were so oddly placed it was weird! We loved being able to walk to breakfast or for ice cream, and ride our bikes wherever we wanted to go. The site was level, but was tricky for my husband to back into. We hope to stay again in the future.

Never Again!
Camp Richardson was so crowded like all of Lake Tahoe now, noisy at nite way past ten at nite with people shouting, dusty and VERY unfriendly to kayakers. Though I was assured we could put in our kayaks when we made reservations and they had a roomy beach area, the campsites were across the main road too far from the beach. To drive our kayaks to the beach area was not allowed during most of the day unless you payed another expensive fee even though it was part of the same resort/campground. The line for the dump station was the longest I’ve ever seen and blocking our campsite (#100) and other campsites, so we could not get in or out of our campsite. One of the Richardson family was very curt with us when we politely said we were leaving a day early and requested a refund.

Loved It
We stayed in the off season. Although our site was electric and water only, the included dump station was well positioned and easy to use on the way out. Employees were very kind and welcoming. Site was level side to side, but a small slope going back. Fire rings, bear proof locker, and picnic tables included at each site we saw. Sites were very spacious and we had no issue getting our truck and travel trailer in there. Lots of little critters running about, enjoyed watching them get ready for winter. The restaurant by the lake was so nice to have walking distance, although riding our bikes was quicker. (Restaurant views were great, food was meh, but we went twice for the great patio views ????). The nearby bike trail was fantastic, make sure you grab a map though, we got a little lost once we hit the residential streets that are part of it. Wish there was wifi at the sites, not just the lounge; but it did allow us to really soak in the natural beauty surrounding us. Would stay again.

Online park map is not up to date since campground was remodeled. Also no sewer hookups anymore. Dump station included with stay. Some sites are very tight due to trees and extra vehicles parked but its still a great place with lots to do in the area.

No Answer
Tried the numbers provided on the website to see about making reservations several times during work hours and no one ever answered.

Almost Killed A Great Tahoe Experience
Reserved a campsite at Richardson for my wife's first visit to Tahoe, a week ago. Upon arrival, we quickly realized just how poor of condition the campground is. My memories of childhood camping were shattered. We reserved site 16 - DON'T DO IT!!. It is a dirt clearing that shares power and water with another site, less than 3 feet away. The picnic table and firepit is over 25 feet away, on a slope. We immediately returned to the kid manning the check in booth. He was of no help in any way. We were looking for any option, to salvage this part of out 3500 mile round trip through National Parks. Determined to find a better option, or continue driving another 300+ miles to Crater Lake, we left Richardson and didn't look back. Around the lake, to the quieter more enjoyable side, we were thrilled to find Meeks Campground & Resort. They quickly found us a spot, even though expected fully booked. From this point on our Lake Tahoe great experience began. Thank you very much Meeks!!
