Very Remote
This place is very remote. You're at ~8500' elevation. There's usually snow visible at the peaks, even in late summer. The snow melts into two alpine lakes, which drain off into two separate water sheds. Vault toilets are available, as is hand pump well water. You need to take your trash out with you. Fire pits are available. There is no camp host. This is dry camping.
The late summer days can get warm, but the high altitude makes for cool to cold nights. Pack warm.
The road is truly primitive, so make sure you're good on the ground clearance, or don't mind banging up your undercarriage. I've towed a tent trailer up here in a stock 2wd explorer. The going was slow, but doable.
Food is available either in Bear Valley to the west, or Markleeville to the east. Given the nature of the road, and distance, it's an hour+ trip each way.
There is wildlife here, as with most campgrounds up in this part of the state. The lakes have trout, but you'll need luck as well as skill to catch 'em.
