Basalt CG Host
I assumed the Campground Host duties at the end of May 2022. Basalt closed for repairs to the San Luis Reservoir on Memorial Day weekend. There was talk of improvements being considered for the entire campground during this time frame, while repairs are being done to the dam. Unfortunately, these repairs could go as long as 10 to 15 years. I spent my six months clearing and trimming brush/trees to make the grounds fire safe. Basalt is a hidden gem, if they would just allow for improvements/maintenance budget. I truly enjoyed my stay there and would return to camp there.

We don’t stay at the Basalt campground because they don’t have electric hook ups..... however, they do have flush toilets & showers, which the other campground does not have. Elk can be seen on the drive up to Basalt!
Pit toilets, no showers, but h20 & electricity & a beautiful lake is our favorite spot to stay..... & with a RV, it is manageable.... but I really wish the campground could be improved with showers & flush toilets!

Basalt CG
There are 3 campgrounds at the reservoir and we enjoyed our stay at Basalt, clean bathroom, shower available. More protected from the wind there than the other camps. We had a good hike at the reservoir, saw elk coming in the park, hawks, fox, rabbit, and the fishing was good for those who fish. Will stay again.

This place looked like a homeless camp not a camp ground and when the group would not move off of our spot she just returned our money and told me this is not Washington. It's to bad the place really looked like it would be a fun time.
