Beautiful, but cramped?

Beautiful area to camp on the Rim, but the spaces are much closer to each other than you'd like. No bad campers, but the smoke from everyone's campfires can get ridiculous when everyone is packed in like this. We wanted to keep our windows open, but we'd get smoked out if we did that. All spots were actually very level, we didn't even have to level side to side. Didn't check out the bathrooms. Water is available at several spots throughout, but you block the road when you fill up. Trash is free for campers, but a fee if you're a day use. There's a spot to dump tanks and trash for a fee, you'll see it driving in. You can also fill with fresh water there, but who fills next to a dump station? (OK, we did). Convenience store down the road is very well stocked with food and fishing supplies, and rent boats, kayaks, canoes and SUP. Lake is gorgeous, hiking is beautiful, Rim pullout are great to see the view. Cramped, but we'd go back in a heart beat.

Lakeside Views

Stayed for 13 nights in 2 separate first come first serve sites. Small campground closest to Woods Canyon Lake and short walk to general store. Camp hosts Teresa & Mike were always available to help campers. Spaces were a bit too close for my comfort. Also did not like the use of lava type rock in the camp area. Most sites are level. VERY busy on weekends. Great 2 hour hike around the lake. Awesome lake for fishing and kayaking. Will definitely stay here again.
