All In All, Pretty Cool
All in all we really liked it. Sites weren't overly spacious but average. Walking distance to the beach, the bird reserve, the fort, th aquarium and the ferry. Management was nice. There were a lot of permanent or seasonal people but everyone seemed friendly. Lots of dogs especially on the beach. Came in February so the Gulf was murky and cold although we still swam in it. Beach was gorgeous white sand. We would definitely go back.

Not Maintained.
We drove in here last night an hour before sunset. This entire place is an unmaintained mess.
We drove to our site which was completely covered in deep leaves.
So much that we could not tell where the site was. It looked like nobody had been there for months.
80% of the sites are long term locals.
After circling the entire camp, we drove out and went to a local park for the night.

No Space For Truck
Mostly low income permanent residents, they get the larger sites Site 25 so small it fit RV wo truck had to park next to table. Couldn’t open awning. For $50 per night not my idea of paradise. Place is a run down mess.

Pricy For What You Get
I so wanted to love this place but I felt it was way over priced at $41.50 a night.
Cons:
The campsites were a mess, poorly marked, clustered together and muddy. The roads were narrow with branches everywhere.
There were lots of rules and restrictions.
Laundry facilities is small so it was always busy.
The gulf in the winter is yucky and brown and it was quite windy and cold.
Pros:
It’s on the beach,
the sand is nice and white,
there is a cool estuary across the street
Fellow campers were all friendly.
All in all of the nightly rate was less I probably would have not had such high expectations.

Happy Place
Love the campground and island! The beach access from the campground is great! The beach is very quiet and calming. Everyone who had their dog on the beach, kept him in control. The airconditioned bath house is very clean. Loved the shaded sites. Not a lot of restaurants, but food was good. We'll be back for sure!

Best On Dauphin Island
Very helpful (friendly) staff, spacious lots, plenty of shade, handy (free) beach access, and is located within walking distance to several main attractions!

Nice Location
Stayed here over the Veterans Day weekend. It is well within walking distance of Fort Gaines, the Estuarium, the bird sanctuary and the beach. The spot we had was close to the internet cafe, the bathhouse and pet area (blue section). All spots are shaded by huge old trees. If you go to the fort and have the chance, talk to Ralph the blacksmith; he has a wealth of knowledge about the fort and local area. We plan on visiting again.

Can't Wait To Go Back!
We had a wonderful time here. We stayed in site #1 and it was plenty spacious. The staff is wonderful. The new bathhouse is immaculate. The path to the beach is wide, well maintained and makes for a pleasant, easy walk. The beach adjacent to the campground is wonderful!

Ok For A One Time Visit
Came in on a Sunday. Staff was helpful in allowing overflow parking till our site was ready. Sites are very close together. We had to request a different site due to low hanging limbs. I did not go to the bathhouse because I had already read bad reviews on them. Looks like they are building a new one. Beach was very private. There weren't ever more than 25 people on the beach when we were there. Be aware there are no campfires allowed. While on the island we visited the fort and the aquarium. Both were interesting tourist places. For me it's one of those places I've been to once and don't care to go back again.

Leaves A Lot To Be Desired
The wifi doesn't cover the whole park. The spots are very tight. The people that run the park are very nice
