Check Park Site For Annual Silt Run
The park is beautiful but during the summer the lake is drained for their reservoir project. There isn’t any water for swimming or boating. We tried hiking some trails and followed the provided maps but there were downed trees blocking most and one had a burned out bridge. Sites in sandy beach area are gravel and easy to level on. Water and electricity are available with a dump station near the entrance. The town is awesome with 3 great bars, laundromat, and store. There is an RV Park in town on a 9 hole golf course for the same price as the state park...

I Expected More
The vault toilets were almost full. Gross! I did go for a walk and came across some composting toilets... those were so much better, I wish our campground had them! We stayed in the Sandy Point campground. The playground there was a huge hit with my kids. The campsites were a little close together for me, and the frequent trains running all day and night while sounding their horns did it in for me. Also, there is one shower for the entire park at the headquarters. It's a bit ridiculous to even offer a shower so far away from any campground and just have one for such a large park... Along with the full vault toilets everywhere, every dumpster was full as well. The castle was beautiful and the lake was still nice for paddle boarding, even though they were draining it for their annual silt run.

Great Site
We stayed at the skyline campground with our dog tent camping. Very clean pit toilets, nice view of Guernsey, and spread out sites. Only one of two groups camping. Some shade trees too.

Not Good For Pet Travelers
There are electric sites with water but no flush toilets. Pit toilets only and the doors to the stalls do not close. If you have a pet make sure to have boots for them. The whole area is covered in stickers. They even stick to the bottom of you shoes, so take them off before entering your tent or RV. Sandy Beach campground is right next to a very active freight train track. Will definitely never come here again.
