Not Impressed
One night on west side. Poorly laid out sites, some on the side of the road. Others bunched together with no privacy. Arrived at 4pm. Nobody to help. Not even a camp host. Looked on the board for available sites. Drove over to one and it said RESERVED. I decided to take it anyway but not without a lot of worry. Bathroom had 1 out of 3 outlets working. People drive too fast and make too much noise. The West side is definitely the wild wild west! Reserve the East!

East Side Best For Trailers
We were in spot 31 which is not great for a 27’ trailer. Smaller ones would do fine. Swimming area was nice. Had a nice hike around the lake. There was a lot of noise and waves from the boats and jet skis so we decided not to try SUP for the first time. Even kayaking might have been affected. Worth doing outside of powerboat hours though. We would come back. Winthrop is a cool little town. 3 1/2 stars would have been a more accurate rating.

Field Camping
This is just a field with water and electric. There are barely any trees and no privacy. The jet skis on the lake are really loud and annoying.

Nice But.....
Nice site in the east campground, site 48. A recent occupant burned their trash in the fire ring even though a dumpster is 20 yards away. Filled with cans and bottles. The lake is not that big and the wash from speeding boats going by the swim area as well as affecting paddle boarders is dangerous. Don't understand why not limited to electric motors only.

Superb
East CG is best for trailers. West looks like a big party. Middle spots have tons of room. Outer spaces are best for multi-spot reservations. Lots of people swimming, tubing and lounging. during the weekend, waves from jet skis, seadoos, and ski craft are constant. Excellent swimming!!!

Great State Park
This is a great state park. The East campground is the best. The sites are large with lots of space between them. The sites in the lower loop have nice views of the lake and easy access to the beach area. Restrooms and showers are clean and well maintained.
