Overall a great family campground The bath house needs some updates though We stayed in A17 which had no shade and it was blazing hot There’s many sites with shade though The staff was friendly and the beach was amazing

Dump Station
We only used the dump station. It is $10.63 Some places only charge $5 or $10. I thought the 63 cents were ridiculous. Dump station works fine though but infested with mosquitoes and flies.

Nice Sites But Sewer Is Questionable
We stayed at an EWS site. The site itself was nice and level, beautifully tucked away in the woods (A loop). With our spot we were close to the beach and able to enjoy both the sun rises and sunsets. HOWEVER this park has a serious problem with the sewer system. Depending on the wind direction it’s pretty common to get a whiff of sewage. The reason? The sewer system is seriously outdated. We could not even dump our tanks at even a moderate flow without it bubbling up and overflowing. We called maintenance and they said that it’s a common problem and suggested using the dump station. Because of this, I don’t think we’d ever come back. If having a reliable sewer hookup is important to you, skip Kiptopeke.

Beautiful area, Nice Park.
Plenty of full hook up sites and the park is well maintained. The beaches are great and provide easy access to launch a SUP or kayak. The RV sites are pretty close together.

Overcrowded & Overpriced
I stayed 1 night with the intent to do the activities for National Kids Day. Upon check in we were informed that all events would begin at NOON... kids events starting at HIGH NOON... just ridiculous. We paid 57 for 1 night and pulled into an overcrowded campground with boats and all sorts of disorganized camping ie tents and rvs intermixed. I had a boat on and trailer jammed into a site on my left and a tent to my right. Not ideal for small children or adults seeking peace and any sense of privacy while camping. After dozens of state parks this is at the bottom of my list. Pass.

Great And Quiet
Nice wide sites, good services, well maintained, friendly. Many birdwatching trails (good spot, especially during migration season). We keep coming back. The water area is interesting, with large ships sunk to act as breakers. A lot of nesting birds use the decks of those ships to nest.

Amazing Time
This state park trip was fantastic. The park is very large, and spread out enough that you're not crawling over each other. Even the sites were well distanced. The park was fairly full for Labor Day weekend, but we had plenty of space. Check in was quick and easy, the Rangers were very nice and very helpful and the beach and pier were clean, scenic and relaxing. Even had a dog friendly beach. You may want to plan time to go into Cape Charles for a visit or two, we were really charmed by that little laid back town.

Great Park For Swimming And Sight Seeing
We arrived to find that you get to pick what ever spot is open with the amenities you paid for. The sites are nice and level but there are no views of the water. Everyone is very friendly and campground is very well maintained. We stayed 4 night.

Camper
Great place. Would highly recommend. Price is worth. Dogs allowed. The noise level was reasonable. Most children's happy noise. Dogs slightly barking. Clean. Beach. Beautiful sunset. Dogs not allowed on swimming beach . But they have a beach on other side of boat ramp you can take your dogs. Would suggest a long safety leash on your swimming dogs as in this side current is strong and there is a drop off. 5 stars

Awesome Views!
Nice State Park. Fun trails with deer and birds in abundance. Used to be a private RV Park long ago, then state bought it. Old sign was still to found by the old entrance. Close to Cape Charles, Just across the bridge from Virginia Beach, Va. Laundry, showers, restrooms, fire pits, fishing, swim at the beach, and much more. Only the restrooms stopped from rating this at five stars.

Great State Park
All the amenities and excellent location. Right on the Chesapeake bay, boat ramp, fishing pier, snack shack. We enjoyed our stay. It would be nice if they put some 50amp service though.
