A Long Time Favorite

This geologic phenomena occurred from tectonic upheaval creating similar rock structures as “City of Rocks” to the North, across the Idaho border. Bovine mountain has huge white quartz veins, goethite crystals, feldspar, mica, Smokey quartz. I’ve been rock hounding for over 50 years and never found a double-terminated crystal of any kind, thinking they were more theory than real, but my wife found a 1.25” long Smokey Quartz crystal terminated at both ends. Bird watchers may see eagles and vultures overhead, Jack and cottontail rabbits, various desert snakes including rattlesnakes. Make noise as you walk and watch the rock crevices around you (we’ve seen 1 in six trips camping in this area) Our favorite boondock. But may not satisfy Disney enthusiasts.
