Open In APRIL
Called the number listed on campsd . Com at 9pm on the way to custer NP and this was the only campground that had spots in April. It was $41 with just electric (not sure if dump or water is available as we headed out early)

Beautiful campground in ponderosa pine forest. White tail deer, rabbits common.
I pulled in on 4e right between two huge ponderosa’s.
Spotless bathrooms

Lots Of Trees
We stayed here for three nights at the tail end of July. I made my reservations back in January because this is a very popular campground and it fills fast. We used this campground as base camp with our trailer while we drove to Mount Rushmore, Jewel Cave, Badlands N.P. and while we drove Needles, and Iron Mountain roads.
The good is all the tall beautiful trees, friendly camp hosts who go above and beyond to make sure you are satisfied, decent bathrooms with showers, and pretty quiet at night.
Downsides are that the sites are very unlevel, and they are all back-in although we heard they may be doing a total remodel next year to level it out so that could change.
