Disappointed
We love this cg, large private sites, however this year 2020, forest service requires reservations which means if course you need a smart phone and a drive into town and a stupid phone call, too much hassle for one nite, but if it's a destination you could make arrangements from home. With a reservation fee, naturally. Ps same situation July 2021 with reservations required, of course they won't go back to the way it was.. .anyway this year a water line is broken so NO WATER A, no notification from rec.gov until we were already here for 3 days, also the trash and buddies were WAY overdue for emptying before it happened. Even with all my complaints Still like the cg, hope it improves

Nice place with a trail leading to the dunes which was worth the hike!

Less Popular Than Others But Available
Apparently this campground isn't as well known as some others along this section of 101. It was recommended by a park service employee when other several other campgrounds were filled. We were surprised to find we had several choices of sites for our little van toward the back of the camp. It was down low behind the dunes and proved to be much warmer as a result of the wind break. Mosquitoes were a problem as a result so repellant is advised. There was a nice trail that leads up into dunes and is part of a longer dunes trail extending both north and south of this campground. This was not our first choice but a comfortable spot without easy beach access.
