I was surprised to discover that this is one of a few Corps campgrounds whose shower house was designed by someone who has never taken a shower. No benches, no place to put your soap or shampoo or clothes and one single hook for towel to serve two stalls. Come on Corps, you’re going to ruin your good reputation! Otherwise, campground was great as always.

Goes Pretty Good
This was easily the best place we've stayed at so far on our trip across the US. So good, we stayed for an extra night.
We were at site 24 in B loop, right on the water with amazing views and a small swimming area down in front.
The guy at the gate is just about the nicest bloke I've ever met and was super helpful in sorting us out.
We also got out for a MTB ride on the Over Mountain Victory Trail, which takes you down to a boat ramp/park down near the dam. For a pretty basic trail, it was awesome to ride. Flowed really well and takes you through some of the stunning forest around the area.

Quick Weekend Getaway
This campground is only 45 minutes from home, so we took a chance on a walk up site for one night on a spontaneous Saturday. Water access and views are amazing!!! Sites are close together and poorly marked, provided map is hard to navigate, no directional signage throughout the campground, drove through twice before we found our site. We were one of about eight or so popup trailers, which is a lot for one campground these days! Total of just over 100 sites, so, big and sprawling. Shower house needs bulldozed and rebuilt... I kept babysitting a toilet from 1964 (not even kidding) with a broken flush handle and a stuck flapper (I used to be in plumbing, so these things drive me nuts, haha!) otherwise, nice facilities, playground, basketball, amphitheater, swimming area, kind staff, quiet, peaceful, lots of families. Now that we’ve been and know more about the place, we’ll definitely keep it in the rotation for quick trips!

Sad
We’re been coming here for 16 yrs it’s going downhill! Really showing it’s age. Restrooms and showers are nasty! Fire pits and BBQ hasn’t been cleaned in awhile.it is peaceful!

Family Tradition
Grew up here as a kid camping with my family. Now, I'm bringing my kids and continuing on the tradition. Not much has changed in the 15 years I've been here which could be considered good or bad. Bathhouses need some updating but this is my only complaint.

Awesome Weekend Destination
Just over an hour from Charlotte, this campground and its other sister sites around the reservoir are a real gem. Clean, well maintained large sites. Asphalt roads keep the noise down and the lake views are wonderful. During our visit, the hiking trail by the lake shore was in horrible condition (previous storm and flood damage) and should have had a closed sign. That was our only complaint, the rest of the campground was great.

Fantastic campground! Beautiful sites with beautiful views of lake. Been here many times. Can't beat the Army Corp sites!

Very nice & clean. Easy to drive around, the bathrooms are well-maintained, easy access to the lake, good swimming areas, and very kid friendly. They even had activities for the kids while we were there. We had a great time and will go back!

Family Fun
Bandits roost has been a family oriented campground for many years. I was brought here with my grandparents and now I'm able to being my children.
