A Beautiful Family Campground
In the past 60 years I’ve camped all over the US and Canada and I don’t remember ever staying in a campground that was friendlier or had this much character or charm. A high percentage of campers here return frequently during the season and now we will too.
Yes, the hill as you enter and leave is a challenge but once you’re there, it’s totally worth it. If you have a really big rig you may want to go somewhere else.
My wife and I felt as if we had gone through a “time warp” and were back living in the 50’s or 60’s. Children playing quietly on the playground and grownups, in rocking chairs, talking and laughing on the front porch of the office.
Plus you’re only 8 minutes away from a horse ranch that has trail rides.
We can’t wait to go back.

Loved The Roaring Water
I will start with the negative. The driveway off 105 is very difficult to get into the campground. Once your in the campground the sites are a little small, but we had site 36 right on the river! We loved the site. The campground was built in 1971 and it could use some updating with the bathhouse and laundry but very nice all around. The staff was friendly
We liked and would stay here again. It is very close and convenient to all the stores in Boone. 10 minutes from Walmart.

Great Location, but Small Spots
Great location close to Boone, Valle Crucis, Grandfather Mountain, and the Blue Ridge Parkway.
We originally booked for 2 nights, but decided to extend 1 more night to see more of the area. The staff were accommodating, friendly, and helpful during our entire stay.
The sites were tight (downside of it being an older campground I guess). There was limited space for parking the two vehicle. Enough room to sit out on the picnic table or set up a couple chairs beside the creek. The soothing noise from the creek drowns out most of the road noise.
Positives: Great location, friendly and helpful staff, nice setting with a creek running through the campground.
Negatives: Small sites.
I would consider staying again on a future visit to the Boone area.

Very Friendly
We stayed here for a week during memorial day. The campground is very clean, and the people here are very friendly. Love the little creek that ran behind our campsite. The sites are very tight, but it's very cozy feeling. The entrance is tricky in and out. Wish they would make the entrance so that 2 vehicles can pull in/out at the same time. Had to wait forever to get in or out of campground.

Clean, Small & Beware The Hill!!
Nice clean campground. Were here in November so it wasn't too bad but I could see where it could be very tight and cramped when the campground is full. Very steep hill going down into the campground. Hwy 105 at the entrance is very busy. We are very new to camping and were nervous about the hill. We adjusted our departure plans to very early morning to avoid the traffic and the possibility of having to stopp on the hill. 3 stars because of the hill otherwise it would have been 4.

Nice Place
Very nice people, very tight slips. Amenities are good, and ideally located. WiFi is decent and good hdtv channel availability. If you want some room to spread out then check the plan to make sure you are on the river. If you aren’t and you have a camper then it’s really tight with your neighbors. Room for one vehicle and if you have more or are expecting company they will need to park in the grass near the entrance.
Again, nice people, clean facilities, and tight slips.

Very Friendly
My wife and I stayed here on Labor Day weekend and the staff was great and it seemed to be a very clean campground but the sight we had #41 the water and the electric hook up was on the sight next to us. So if you get this sight plan on having 50' water and power line. But they were very nice and accommodating us with the extra power cord.

Convient
Ok place but cramped when crowded. Clean, very friendly and helpful staff. Very close to main highway so you deal with road noise.

Pretty Setting, Nice Folks
E/W waterfront sites on the stream running through the park as well as cabins in one area. The RV area is on the other side of the office. Fire rings and picnic table each site, clean bathhouse convenient to sites. Firewood and ice for sale at the office.
