Can’t Wait To Go Back!
Stayed a couple of nights and kept thinking that I was living in an old western movie! The landscape is amazing. Being able to camp right in the rocks was incredible. Loved getting to go on hikes in and around the rocks. The visitor center was very nicely done. Talking to the rangers was an educational experience that made it evident that they love their jobs. This is a dark sky park with awe inspiring views of the Milky Way and so many stars visible it’s hard to describe. The planet walk is neat and the desert botanical gardens are lovely. The visitor center bathrooms have showers, otherwise the rest of the campground has (clean) vault toilets. Really wish they would install a dump station.

Wow!!
City of Rocks State Park in New Mexico is near Deming and Silver City. The campsites are among unique rock formations. There are tent sites and trailer sites. The trailer sites have water and electricity. The visitor center has warm showers that are free. Fantastic place. They have star parties once a month September through June and have a 14 inch telescope on site.

Quiet. Clean. Awesome. Not crowded. Great sunset. Just an awesome gem off the main road.

Lots Of Dirt
A speed limit set in the park is not enforced nor is it followed. We were in an a site where everyone drove past us speeding and kicking up dirt, it was windy so that made it worst. We finally moved to an electric site but cars were still driving fast and kicking up the dirt. We were not happy about it and couldn't wait to leave, if the people used a little common sense it would have been better.

Great
We were amazed at the natural rock formations surrounded by open spaces. We used it as a base for trip to the Gila Cliff Dwellings Nat Mon. Did some hikes and the Visitor Center was most helpful...learned alot. Highly recommend. As mentioned, some sites take skill to back into.

Is as advertised. Good for 2 nights. A couple of nice hikes.
Be aware that a number of the sites are uneven, you will require more than average number of levelling blocks. Seems to be very popular, come early.

Amazing views and hiking. Very few sites with hookups. We ended up boondocking. Worth the drive off the freeway if you enjoy nature and beautiful star-filled skies at night.

Beautiful place to see, if you like dry camping it's the place for you. There are full hookups, but not very many. We had full hookup, there is no sewer and no dump site. Very quiet.
