We stayed in the 400 section (west beach)Beach. Very nice. Beach close and clean (get a beach facing site if possible). Bathrooms clean. Could spend a week easily but bring food since it's a way to town. Will be back

Rustic Cabin - Nebu
We booked the rustic cabin Nebu for the week. It is 2 miles back down a windy and bumpy two track. It literally takes 10 mins or more from the gate to the cabin which is situated on a hill. You don’t want to forget anything including wood as you do not have access to the woodshed in the summer. It’s very peaceful but is along the Nebu trail so you do get hikers going by (Don’t go to the outhouse in your underwear). The cabin itself had 5 bunks (hard mattresses), a nice table, counter space, and indoor stove. I brought a nice smelling candle & glad I did as the cabin was very musty smelling. Mosquitoes were horrible, so bring lots of skeeter dope and a hat when hiking as the flies will buzz your head the entire time. Rangers were extremely friendly and helpful. The only reason I booked the cabin is because we like some privacy and of all the campgrounds there, the campers are right on top of each other. With all that property they could widen sites for privacy & open a more private one.

Nice Park, Not A Lot To Do For The Kids
The location is beautiful. Very beautiful at night with plentiful stars. The beach is very natural but the kids enjoyed it. There is a dog area on the beach which we and our dog appreciate. The full hook up sites are very nice but the showers are a long way away, if you like to use those. The roads to get there are not well maintained, so expect a bumpy ride for part of the trip from Mackinaw City along Lake Michigan. Overall, a beautiful location and nice campground.

The pines are nice. Way to crowded by the lake. They'll tell you the showers just went out but have been out for a while. Only 6 nasty showers for about a 1000 people.

Beautiful Park But...
Two things make it a challenge. The County roads you use to get to the park are full of potholes and extremely rough. They caused damage to our trailer despite slow speeds. Also, the shower houses need repair or updating badly. We think they should have done this before adding the new full hook up area. We were also told by one of the cabin renters that we were not allowed to walk on the Sturgeon Bay Trail even though there is a sign posted near the cabin. They apparently thought that they had rented the trail as well. Also, this time there were few park patrols and the phone was constantly busy.

Sites are a bit crowded but not too bad. Easy access to beautiful Lake Michigan and Dark Sky Park. Bathrooms and showers private.

Worst Michigan State Park
This is the worst kept up state park I have been. Restrooms very dirty with an offensive smell. Showers but not private, no door to close nor curtin. Campers are crammed on top of each other. The site it's self was OK but had to clean it up before we could setup. Something interesting I noticed with this park is that the Rangers carried mase. The other two Michigan State Parks we were in during the week the Rangers did not carry mase.
