Good Value For The Money
Sites are well spaced and lots of vegetation. If you need solar to charge your batteries, there are a few sites that will give pretty good coverage. Site 20, that we had, was one of them. No cell coverage, but, if you have Starlink, we had a surprisingly good signal, though I'm sure most sites will not have. $16, $8 with pass. Sites are very level; we needed no leveling blocks. 4 stars, instead of 5, because they advertise water and dump station, which neither one is there. Water used to be, but all spigots are covered, and there never was a dump station. Lots to do nearby. Close to town for laundry, gas and groceries. 1.5 hrs (only 4 miles, but no direct route) to Porcupine Mountain with lots of hiking and waterfalls. Nice beach by the harbor, over the suspension foot bridge within hiking distance from the CG..

Great Location, Rocky Soil
We planned on doing the Black River as a quick day trip but loved the area so we camped for one night. The sites are all large and we picked a vacant one that seemed great. Unfortunately the soil was very rocky just underneath the grass so pounding in stakes was very difficult. That said, the camp host was kind and the bathroom was good enough. No showers. Beautiful location. In early September we had no issues with bugs. I would definitely return. Fee is paid with an envelope at the entrance so bring exact dollars.

If you can grab one, the spots along the lake have great views of the sunsets. Super quiet, rustic (pit toilets, no showers). Close to lots of waterfall hikes and a beach down by the boat ramp access just a short hike down the hill. Sites are big enough to fit a larger camper or rv into. Bring bug spray, as most sites are wooded.
