No Complaints
Despite Illinois not putting money back into the park system the Rangers here have done a great job of keeping up with things. All the trails that we hiked were very well kept and included awesome scenery. Waterfalls were not flowing because of recent drought conditions(gives us a reason to come back) Showers /toilets we very clean. Not much traffic coming thru which was a plus. Will definitely be back to see the waterfalls and the rest of the trails

Small, Nice And Quiet
We swung in for the night on our way north to MI. The park was clean and well kept. It offered quick little hikes and a nice park for the kids to burn off energy.

Large campground. Mostly open, but still shady. Very clean. There is a nice playground near one end so it may be a little noisy at times. Host was ok, maybe a bit grumpy, though. Nice hiking available in an interesting geological area.

There during 2008? spring quake.
Absolutely one of the better spots I ever stayed in. The forest and terrain is marvelous. There is a great bike trail real close to the east. Quiet and peaceful. Don't miss it if you're anywhere in the neighborhood. Great jumping off spot for day trips. Lots to see close by for at least a week. Area is one of the undiscovered gems in the US. Did I say there is a lake and fishing?

Clean And Quiet
Volunteered as camp host in 2014. Was a great place to stay for the summer and fall. The park rangers do a great job maintaining the entire park which includes lots of hiking trails, scenic Vistas, rainy season water falls and camping for any preference. Met many interesting people and most were very friendly. Great place for family weekends or travelers with its close proximity to I-57 & I-24. Don't pass by if you are in So. Illinois!

Very Nice
Well maintained park with nice size sites. Nice playground for the kids and two separate hiking trails. Bathrooms and showers were extremely clean and looks like the dump station is new. Only down side is there is no lake for swimming.

Nice park, Rv spots aren't completely level, but everything is still nice. Good playground, excellent hiking and waterfalls. Very fun day in the woods.

Very Nice Park
Great place to camp and hike. Some campsite are better than others so drive around first and check them out. Also within 30-45 min of many other great areas in Shawnee National Forest.
