Quiet and Cool
This campground is off of the main road a good ¼ mile, so no dust and not much unnatural noise. At 6600 feet in elevation, it cools off at night all summer long when you need a break from the heat. Has a brand new vault toilet with a light! Adjacent to beautiful meadows and Johnson Creek. It’s situated about halfway between Warm Lake and Deadwood reservoir with lots of other nearby high mountain lakes with great trout fishing. There is also access to several trails both motorized and non-motorized. If there’s a downside, about 2 months of the year you will need to watch for deer flies from 10 am to 2 pm and Mosqito’s around dusk. Once it freezes, it’s relatively non- buggy. Very primitive campsites with fire rings and picnic tables. Rv’s can park in most of the sites fairly easily. No camping fees. About 2 miles of maintained gravel after you leave the end of the Warm Lake road asphalt. Has a few deer that check the camp sites every day, so keep your snacks locked up!
