Lots of Tropical Foliage!
We stayed one night and it was very nice and pleasant. Given the season, the bugs were not too bad and we could eat a late dinner outdoors with the fire going. Couldn’t get any TV reception but got Verizon service. The other reviews are older, the drive was not too bumpy on the campground and the tree cover was definitely not low for our RV. Highly recommend it, though cannot attest to hotter months when the insects may be a concern.

Didn't like because the roads were so bad and the campground that you couldn't hardly even go 5 miles an hour without bottom out your vehicle or trailer some of the worst roads have seen in a state park

Nice Park
Beautiful park, great store, quiet sites. Some sites are really small, and ours was tricky to get into even with our small trailer. It was bike week in Daytona, so lots of motorcycles in camp, but quiet overnight. Kayaking in the river was great, dolphins and manatees along the trek. Cell signal was weak. Would definitely come back, but avoid site 15.

Its A Nice Park
In order to stay here I had to book to separate times. First for 2 days and then we had to move for the remaining 3 days. I wanted to get in so badly we were willing to do this. Well the park is beautiful, lush and clean but its not as great as I thought it was going to be. Would have left after 2 days but was pd already. Not a lot to do if you don't boat or bike unless you drive a ways out of the park which we did. Beaches are beautiful but not near the water at the camp area. Bathrooms near our first site (14) were just across from us and so clean!! Good water pressure and washer/dryer right there. Other 2 are disgusting!!! Doors open and covered in bugs!! Nice sites once you get in but getting in both of ours was a challenge. Roads bumpy and could use work but go very slow and you'll be fine. Rangers seem nice enough and the store is just ok. Can walk the road but can be dusty. Its a good place to park your camper. Would stay again but only if there was nothing else.

Campsite had lots of palm tress and oaks. Our tv reception was spotty. Restroom very clean but no heat or air. Park roads were very bumpy. Dogs picked up lots of ticks walking along park road. Four miles from town which you can bike to down bike lane and sidewalks. No water view from campsite. You can put in a kayak on intercostal by outdoor pavilion near campsites.

The roads are dirt, but are graded regularly. Select your site well, as some are far better than others. There are a few pull through but they are mostly reserved for handicapped. The campstore is the best i have ever seen The proprietors are the friendliest and amazingly helpful. They loaned my wife and i a fan as we forgot ours. they allowed us to leave our boat in the water overnight, tied up next to their guide boat. Just awesome people. The park is old Florida and you have just gotta experience it.

We were there 3 nights last week. It was very relaxing camping. Had no problems with roads or trees. Just a couple of chatting squirrels nearby. The smell of wild flowers and spring foilage was refreshing. Camping area trimmed back nicely. This is the real Florida even saw a turkey run by. Bathroom s clean and trash under control. Walking the roads around the campground we sighted little white flowers, periwinkles I believe and a bright red flower thingy unique to that habitat. Only 15min. to shopping. Bring canoes kayaks and bikes, hiking shoes for dirt roads. We will return with my fishing pole next time.

True, the roads aren't great, but I don't think they're particularly bad. Go slow and you'll be fine. The 3 restroom/shower buildings are clean and well kept with good showers. Good bike riding area, lots of room to roam within the grounds. Very nice camp store / cafe next to the water. Bugs? Yes, this is Florida, what would you expect? I didn't find them that bad. Bring some bug spray, you'll be fine. Close to all Daytona stores, restaurants etc. Overall an excellent campground.

Beautiful But!
Stayed a few days but left early because of mosquitoes were so bad that you couldn't go out after dust and in the day time it was so hot outside you could stay outside long .

Watch Out
This park has really bad roads and low tree branches! They ripped our rv roof.
